Best Gift For Brother

With my brother’s birthday less than a week away it’s time I get thinking about what to get him for a gift. My brother is always very opinionated on what he likes and doesn’t like and if you get him the wrong thing he will definitely let you know. So normally I like to play it safe and get him new shows on DVD (this year I’m thinking Breaking Bad or Weeds). Another present idea is books and normally I would get boys books in the genre of crime or maybe sci-fi. If you brother is a young adult chances are he’ll also be an anime fan, so maybe a new comic or anime DVD is an option for you.

Other great gifts to give brothers are toys and gadgets. If your brother is younger get him a Guitar Hero or if he’s older maybe get him a GPS or something for his car. If he has a house he might also like some new power tools.

If you are really stumped and have no idea what your brother likes and what if he may indeed have come from another planet then maybe you should get him a gift certificate. I assure you this will not offend him and he would probably prefer to go and get himself something he really likes and needs (rather than recieving more aftershave). Get him a gift certificate for the movies, your local book/video store or from a clothes store that looks like it has stuff similiar to what your brother would wear. If you don’t want to give him a gift certificate another gift idea that can be used for a brother (as long as he’s old enough) is to get him his favorite alcohol. Or if you still live together just promise to not annoy him for a week, what could be a better gift then that?

So what is the best gift to get for a sister? Whether you are after a Christmas gift for your sister or a birthday gift for your sister there are plenty of gift ideas out there. My sister is pretty easy to buy for, she tends to just like everything I do, but some sisters are very different from each other. But hopefully being your sister you know a little bit about her, is she a girly girl or more of a tomboy? Also how old is she and what is she into?

If your sister is a girly girl (like my own sister), then she will no doubt love getting jewelry (check out etsy.com for some great stuff). If you’ve already gotten her jewelry numerous times then maybe she would like a nice perfume and/or some new makeup (note: girls will never have enough eyeshadow or lipstick colors but girls are pretty loyal to the brand they use so try and check this out first if you can). Clothes and sleepwear also make beautiful gifts for sisters, I personally love getting gifts from Peter Alexander. If she is a bit older and has her own place she might like something pretty for the home such as a cute teapot or a coffee set or some kind of ornament that will match her home.

For a tomboy or a sister not so into jewelry or home goods, some gift ideas for your sister would be a new pair of sunnies or maybe some groovy sneakers. If she is into adventure she might also like some camping equipment or maybe some fitness equipment such as an exercise ball or some dumbells. Think about what your sister enjoys doing and this will help you think of something perfect to get her.

If you’re feeling particularly generous why don’t you get her something that you can share together such as a nice dinner out or maybe a pampering package for two. Or maybe if you haven’t been spending enough time together you could get your sister a weekend away together doing something that you both enjoy. Geek - noun: a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc.

If the above sounds like the person you are buying a gift for then their present choice should be obvious. What do geeks want? Geeks want electronics, gadgets or anything else that can stimulate their mind. So the number one thing I would recommend for a geek gift (if they haven’t already got it) is of course the latest Apple iPod. Another gadget (which I myself really want hint hint nudge nudge) is the Kindle. In case you’re not familiar with these, they are like an iPod except for books and have been predicted as being the future of book reading, so we practically need one right?

Gift Hamper Ideas

When you want to congratulate somebody for a special occasion a good idea is to get them a gift hamper. There are a number of gift hampers available online or from gift shops and it is important that you choose the right type depending on the occasion or event or with these ideas you can simply put one together yourself.

Weddings Hampers: For a wedding gift hamper you want it to be romantic. A bottle of champagne inside is a good place to start as the couple can open it to celebrate their new life together. You can also include a couple of champagne flutes. Then you can think of a specific food theme for example breakfast, dessert or Italian just to name a few. If you were choosing the breakfast theme you could include some gourmet teas and coffees, syrups, jams, muesli and maybe a nice serving plate or some nice napkins. Also if you have their wedding invitation or are sending this after the wedding you can decorate the basket with the wedding colors (because you know they like them right?)

Corporate Hampers: For a corporate hamper keep it simple and clean and try and include the company logo on the hamper somewhere. Generally you’ll probably include items like a bottle of wine/liqueur, stationary, a calendar and some gourmet nibbles.

Baby Gift Hampers: I find these the cutest of the hamper types. Make sure you make these colorful and fun. Normally they come with nappies, baby lotions (and maybe some for mummy too), baby food, jumpsuits, little baby socks and maybe a rattle or some type of plush toy as well. These are really fun to make and baby stuff is pretty cheap too. So these would be a great gift for a baby shower or new born.

All the rest: Most gift hampers are pretty similar and can be used for other occasions ranging from a birthday to a job promotion to a new house. Whilst the above are more specific the main formula stays the same really. You want a nice drop of something either a wine or a liqueur (or beer if its a male gift). Also you want some gourmet nibbles such as some nice chocolates or dips and breads or cheeses and syrups (preferably something that will preserve for awhile) and you maybe you want some kind of dinnerware (for housewarming gift) or some pampering products (for a female) or maybe a cuddly teddy bear if its a get well gift. That’s it really then put all your goodies in a nice basket, fill it and wrap it with some cellophane or paper or whatever other pretty things you find. Finish with some ribbon and voila you’ve got yourself a gift hamper.

While it is still early in the year many companies and businesses should start thinking about what they are going to get their staff this year for Christmas. Here I have some staff gift ideas which can be given over the holidays or to celebrate any other business occasion.

One of the most popular corporate gifts at the moment is a corporate gift basket. These are easy to find online by simply typing “corporate gift baskets” into your search engine and scrolling through the numerous sites. Gift baskets are great as they come in a range of prices and are well received. Generally they contain gourmet food items, sauces, drinks and they can be custom made depending on your preferences. These days rather than trawling through store after store many people are preferring to shop online for their gifts and goodies. Whilst some may save time by doing this, for others shopping online can be even more frustrating as there is so much to look at and sift through, but that is where I am here to help

The first place to go to is amazon.com. This place doesn’t just sell books, you can find almost anything on this site so is a great first place stop. Another great place if you’re on a budget is target.com which again sells almost everything too.

Of course there is also the obvious choice of eBay.com. I personally love eBay as while you have to sift a little to find the good stuff you can find some really unique items (and bargains too) and I find that ebay is especially great for finding antique items or cheaper designer clothing.

For clothes topshop.com is also a favorite sight and for home-made accessories/clothes/whatever you can think etsy.com is another good one.

A great place to get the coolest techno accessories is apple.com (hey who doesn’t like getting a prettier ipod every year?) and a site that I find really groovy (helps you select presents based on personality types) is gift.com and there is also shop-com.co.uk.

So these sites only just scratch the surface of the millions of shopping sites that are out there I know, but these are them main ones. Honestly you don’t need to go to any other sites as you are bound to find something on one of these sites otherwise you may get lost in the internet stratosphere.
