There’s no denying that the item on the top of everyone’s wishlist this year is the Apple iPad 2!

For those who aren’t too sure what all the fuss is about – what is so good about the iPad 2?

Well where do we begin? First up the iPad 2 has forward facing and rear cameras (perfect for facetime); it also has a better process than the original iPad and it’s smaller now too. It also has a groovy new magnetic cover.

Sure there are other computer tablets that can do all the stuff that an iPad 2 can do, but let’s face it, none of them are quite as cool or as smooth and easy to use.

So if you are looking for a gift idea for a brother, sister, heck even your grandparents, then the Apple iPad 2 would have to be at the top of the wishlist.

Mother Gift Ideas

Why is it that there are so many people out there that have no idea what to get their own mothers for their birthday or Christmas or Mother’s Day. Your mother is no doubt not very dissimilar to any other female that you know and therefore no doubt likes getting the same kind of gifts. Luckily for me I’m quite close with my mother so I will share some mother gift ideas that I know she or most mothers would love.

To start with mother like getting gifts that have sentimental value. So one gift idea for a mother would be a photo frame that has photos of you and your mom inside. If you’re not into the photo frame idea think of things that you could make for your Mom. What about baking a cake or cookies and presenting them on a cute dish or in a cookie jar. Another good home made option would be to sew her something (if you have the talent otherwise get somewhere else to do it for you). Maybe get her name on a pillow or make some homemade jewelry, she will love this. You could also just buy her a gorgeous vase and find some pretty flowers to put inside.

Many mothers like any female would also appreciate typical girly gifts such as clothes, pampering products and accessories. Some items in particular that would be great gifts for any mother would be a scarf, bathrobe, or a necklace. She may also like some perfume, body lotion or a body shop gift pack would also no doubt go down a treat.

If you are unsure of which of the above to pick for your mother’s gift then a good idea I often use is to get 3 smaller gifts and give them all together. For instance how about making some cookies and giving this with a cheap scarf and some cheap earrings. You could also bring along some flowers along with a pampering gift pack. If you get a few things she’s bound to like one of them and this way it looks like you’ve put a little more effort in to make it a special gift for your mother, even if the gifts are only small.

Mother-In-Law Gift Ideas

A couple of posts ago I said that buying for my boyfriend was the hardest gift of the year. I was wrong – buying gifts for his family is much harder. First of all I’m always put in charge of the gifts for his family and without knowing them that well it makes this a tricky one. So what to get for his mother when I really don’t have much clue as to what she is interested in? Well after having a Google it seems that the most common theme for a mother in law present is pampering gifts. While this would be nice it seems a bit generic. I think mother-in-laws would prefer something that is from the heart. I think anything to do with photos is a good idea. All mothers like to show off their family I think, so giving them a beautiful photo frame with a picture of your family would be a nice gesture. There are lots of other things as well that you can get photos on, such as canvases, pillows, bags etc if that appeals to you. One year my own mother received a digital slide-show photo frame with various family photos on it and I know she absolutely loved it.

Another idea I like is taking them somewhere nice for the day or getting them tickets to the theater. There is also the option of getting them anything that can be used in the house, but make sure its something unique (note: not from Ikea). Most mothers will already have the basic stuff needed in the house but will probably appreciate something that adds beauty or is a collectible. Any type of antique would go down a treat. I think personally I’m gonna go for this last option, let’s hope she likes it.
